Irene Music | Studio
My #1 goal during private lessons is positive student engagement as I believe it’s much easier to learn about the world of music when you’re having a good time and are excited about what you’re learning. Instead of offering lessons based solely on a specific instrument, I like to think of my studio as “music lessons” as music at its core is collaborative and many musical concepts and techniques are helpful in all disciplines. This means sometimes even students who are instrumentalists will do a bit of singing and vocalists will learn a bit about the piano and its functions. This interdisciplinary approach leads to a well-rounded educational experience that will prepare them for the rest of their musical journey, from amateur to professional.
My Music Major College Counseling is designed to hold the hand of high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a degree in music as they navigate the various application and audition processes of music schools, as well as preparing them with the tools, education, and skills necessary to succeed in their first year of college. The course is essentially split into two phases: Phase One is focused on researching schools and their curriculum, contacting studio professors to discuss trial lessons, deliberating on which school, teacher or program is the best fit, and scheduling/preparing for auditions. Phase Two is more education-focused with an introduction to(or review of) collegiate-level music theory, aural skills, music technology, and jazz.
